Title: Woman perspective in decision-making

AIF: How do you see the prospect of women playing a more prominent role in the public and private sector in the next five years?

DA: The statistics for women in Brunei Darussalam shows that our girls are better achievers than our boys, in terms of tertiary education and human resources development. 73% of UBD graduates in 2007 were women. It is universally accepted that education is the key towards greater advancement. In light of this, our women are at a greater advantage and I see them playing an even more prominent role than what they are doing today. Even today, we can see that in many vocations, women outnumber men. Our challenge will not be merely the increased participation of women but rather the increased participation of both men and women together, in equity and in unison.
